Goals for 2016

goals2016 is only a day away. I wanted to take this time to go over my goals for 2016. I feel like 2016 is going to be a great year for Jenuine Crafts, not only for me, but for you too! My focus for this year is to inspire and inform. My true passion is for helping other people and making their lives easier. I love crafting and I feel like it is truly a way to destress. I also enjoy organizing and planning. Jenuine Crafts is a place for more than just crafts. Here are my goals in bullet form…

  • Planning and Organizing- I love to plan and I love to organize. When my life is organized, I can get so much more done.  In 2016 I will be relaunching my Etsy store with digital planner stickers as well as tutorials on how to cut them out on your own at home. I also plan on making more planning videos/blog posts that will include inserts, how to make your own dividers, paperclips, etc.
  • Scrapbooking- Preserving memories is the reason I craft, but scrapbooking can definitely get overwhelming. I plan on making more scrapbook process videos and sharing at the end of the month my projects that I completed.
  • Lifestyle- There is so much more to me than planning and crafting. I plan on adding a few lifestyle videos/posts including beauty, fashion, home decor, and vlogs. They won’t be the focus of my channel and blog, but I want to branch out and share a few more things.
  • Challenges- I want to bring challenges back to Jenuine Crafts. I used to host challenges on my blog and it kept me crafty even if life got busy. These challenges will be hosted in the Jenuine Crafts Facebook group that you can join HERE. I will also be adding a link up on my blog that you can join, but I will also be announcing the challenge on my YouTube channel.

These are just a few of my goals for Jenuine Crafts. I hope you stick around to see what I have in store for you all this year and have fun crafting with us. As always… until next time Happy Crafting!!

Jenuine Crafts Co.

Etsy BannerHello all! It’s been a long while since I’ve posted on my blog. A lot has been going on. Last summer I was busy moving schools and into a new grade and classroom. This summer has been busy launching something I’ve dreamed about for years. All of my life I’ve always been crafty and organized. In middle school I won three awards in the yearbook, most unique fashion, most likely to become a teacher, and most organized. Now the first one I’m not sure if I should take that as a compliment, but I’ll take it!! The last two are definitely me for sure! I am a teacher by profession and I love it! I am a kid at heart and I love to learn. I also think kids are the most interesting people ever because they are always so curious and they say what’s on their mind. Can’t beat their honesty. Aside from teaching, I also really love to create things. If I weren’t a teacher, I would be a graphic designer. I love designing things and putting them to use in some way. I love designing websites and creating things in Photoshop. I have wanted to open up an Etsy shop for so long now and share my love of creativity with others. I feel like this is a mixture of everything I am. My Etsy store specializes in planner stickers that I’ve designed to be functional and decorative. My store is small, but I will be releasing new content often. I plan on making monthly sets, coordinating themed sets, monthly kits, teacher stickers, and more. I am doing a Pre-Grand Opening of my Etsy store. I will be open until Friday July 3rd. Then I will be going on a shop vacation until July 20th. So if you are interested in purchasing some of my stickers this week, hurry before it’s too late. When I reopen, I will have more variety of stickers, including EC vertical and horizontal stickers as well as teacher planning stickers. If you want to stay up to date with shop updates and sneak peaks, visit my FB page.

I just want to thank everyone who has been patient with my while I have been getting things done in the background. I do plan on making more crafting videos for you guys soon.

Cricut Explore Air Unboxing

Cricut has been generous to send me a new Cricut Explore Air to review for you guys. I will be playing around with this machine and will be reviewing it  later on this week. For now I just wanted to share my reactions to the unboxing of the Cricut as well as some photos of the new machine.

Dear Me, Craft Edition

There is a new type of video going around on YouTube called Dear Me. Usually these videos are of people giving wisdom to their younger selves from a more wise and mature version of themselves. While these are very motivational and inspiring, I didn’t feel like I had much advice to give to the youth these days because I very much still feel like I am still making and learning from my mistakes. Where I do have some wisdom is in the crafting world! I have TONS of advice to my younger craft self as well as some advice for beginning crafters. I hope you find this information motivational or inspiring, or just learn from my “mistakes” that I would probably make all over again!! So here it is… Dear Me, Craft Edition!!

Tracking Classroom Data with the Cricut Explore

Classrooms are a wonderful place. Teachers are sharing their love of knowledge with their students while children are falling in love with new things every day. Whether it be reading, writing, or even math. Classrooms are the future. They create future authors, scientists, doctors, and even more teachers! Classrooms are warm and inviting, but there are also behind the scenes that many people do not see or even know about. What is that I am talking about? DATA!! Data is a HUGE thing in classrooms these days. Most of our instruction is driven by data. We see where our students are, where their strengths and weaknesses are and based on that… you guessed it, DATA, we plan accordingly. Now yes, data is just a bunch of numbers, but you can make data not only fun, but useful and informative for your students. In the video below, I show you how I track data in a fun and visual way for my kindergarten students.

Ikea Craft Room Storage

Ikea has quickly become the go to storage for crafters. It is easy to store our 12 x 12 supplies and fairly easy to put everything together. I have been using my Ikea Expedit shelves for over a year and I love them! I really dislike seeing all of my supplies out in the open for everyone to see, including myself so I came up with a solution to fix my problem.

ikea5This solution was gorgeous and I loved that I was able to use my favorite paper. This solution was also free and all it cost me was my favorite paper pad. Unfortunately after a year of use, it started to fall apart. I was going to remake it with foam board and strengthen everything, but I realized that the whole system wasn’t working for me. Everything was thrown into a shelf and hidden with a piece of paper. Nothing was labeled and I was searching for where everything was stored.

ikea1I finally decided to invest in Kassett boxes from Ikea. They were a faily good price at $9.99 for a pack of 2. You do have to put them together yourself, but they are easy to assemble. It just takes some time and it’s messy.

ikea2Once all of your boxes are put together the fun part comes, reorganizing all of your stuff and putting them in your new storage boxes. I found that I was able to fit more in my boxes then before I had them. The only problem is that I cannot fit my 12 x 12 albums in the Kassett boxes, but that is a small issue to have when the boxes look so good and they fit so much stuff in them.

January 2015 Project Life

The journey of project life 2015 has begun! I find that if I print my pictures and filler cards each week and journal it is so much easier to keep up with it. Then at the end of the month I embellish. Here are my Project Life layouts from January.

New Look for 2015

Hello crafters! If you haven’t noticed already, there is a new look to my blog. A while back I made a very scary mistake and I accidentally deleted my entire blog!! Very scary!!! I was able to get all of my old content back, but I lost all of my new content. It was sad, but then I realized that at least I still had videos and some pictures backed up onto my computer. I am still working on fixing those blog posts, but for now I am moving on and looking forward to the future.

There are some new sections I have added to the blog including an updated about me section, craft rooms of present and past, as well as my project galleries. You can view all of those pages in the links above.

about craft room galleries

Some new things coming to Jenuine Crafts this year is an online shop. I can’t wait until I can share my new shop with you. Until then, I will be working hard behind the scenes. I am also going to be adding more of a personal touch to my blog. New posts will include personal stories, planner series, organization, and home decor. For those of you who are following my other blog, Wow So Cute, I am planning on reserving that for posts that don’t quite fit here. Those will include recipes and a place to house my love of reading which will include reviews, booktube videos, and more. Make sure to follow me on my social media sites to stay in touch as I tweak this little blog of mine.

2015 Crafty Resolutions

This year my big goal was to get more creative. I feel like I started new things, like scrapbooking, and I really enjoyed it. I also feel like I got a little overwhelmed with everyday life and became super busy. This year I plan on making more time for being creative. My two major goals are to scrapbook more and premake cards.

I love scrapbooking and reliving memories that make me smile. I love the process of scrapbooking and also the product of scrapbooking, preserving memories. I primary started crafting as a card maker. I loved, and still love, making cards. I would spend hours working on a card that would either be given away and thrown away or just put in a box never to be seen again. I was getting burnt out and I was tired of just hiding my work away. That’s when I decided to focus on scrapbooking. I could still spend hours on a layout or even just 5 minutes on a layout and even if the layout was put in a closed album, I would still pull it out every once in a while and relive those memories. Not only that, but others could enjoy those layouts as well. This year I only created 14 layouts!!! Seriously!!?? In 2015 I would like to create at least 2-4 layouts a month. Can I do it? We shall see.

With my focus shifting to scrapbooking, I don’t want to forget about my love for card making. I have a beautiful craft room with amazing supplies and when it comes time when I need a card, I have to time to make one! I would like to focus on making simple cards and making a stockpile so instead of making a card at the last minute, I can pull one out that I’ve already made and be stress free!!

This may be one of my last updates on my crafting blog. That’s because I just created a personal blog Wow So Cute. Make sure to head on over to that blog after the update video!
